A Little History…
A couple of words by way of explanation … way back in the days when Anita first started creating digital layered templates she decided to create them with a small number of embellishments to enable a partially completed page to be customised.
Our sketchPLATES are intended to be somewhat flexible, more so than scrapSNAPS in any case, yet not so flexible that the end result is completely different from the starting point.
What are sketchPLATES?
Essentially our sketchPLATES are a designer scraplift for you to customise, often including finished element pieces that are usable in multiple projects, designed to coordinate with our other product offerings.
sketchPLATES are like this because sometimes ya just can’t figure out what to do with the photos that are staring at you or even what to do with the page at all and none of them other usual run-of-the-mill templates are helping. Nope, they’re not helping at all and you feel totally stuck!
Thus, a sketchPLATE is a potent weapon to add to your digital stash arsenal to help you blast through pages, especially when the mojo well is dry and all else fails!
How Do You Use a sketchPLATE?
If you are new to digital scrapbooking please read our comprehensive post on how to use sketchPLATES for details on making the best use of our easy to finish layered digital scrapbook templates.
How are they Designed and Created?
The entire sketchPLATES project is grounded in developing a hand drawn pencil sketch from an inspiration source followed by the creation of a personal layout page project with the finished layout then being transformed into the layered template that is a sketchPLATE.
~ Each new sketchPLATE has a story behind its creation! ~

Welcome to sketchPLATE 0011: inspired by a super high contrast monochromatic image, the finished layout is a complex page the makes crafty use of out-of-bounds photo manipulations against a backdrop of ink stamped elements and flourished with shiny chrome accents. The design process behind this project was fraught with obstacles; here’s the story about the journey from poster to double page layout.

Today it is my great pleasure to present to you the first of the brand new range of sketchPLATES for 2022. Spotlighting this sketchPLATE Saturday offering, the idea for this page was originally sparked by those awesome ampersands that were so popular a little while ago. Having spotted a few on Pinterest I decided to try my hand at designing one. Here's what happened ...

Hey hey hey! Can you believe that January is almost done and dusted already? I have been full on getting things accomplished and, weirdly, I am feeling a teensy bit sad that most of the month is already marked off. Nonetheless, today I have a new sketchPLATE for you and true to the name sketchPLATE the inspiration for this template comes from a haute cuisine plating photograph would you believe!?! I love the fine art of haute cuisine and have tried a few plating experiments of my own over the years ... lots of practice still ahead...

I blinked! and somehow September slipped away before I could find my feet for the sketchPLATE. I’m scoring it up as an “its 2020 just roll with it” month ... ... moving on to October’s sketchPLATE Saturday AND the all new sketchPLATE Saturday podcasts. Overall, this page is kind of intended to be is a florist’s dream come true; the finished page bubbles and froths with flowers!

It almost feels as though August pounced upon us yesterday and yet it is, incredibly and for all intents and purposes, over. Which leads us directly to another sketchPLATE Saturday. Time for a brand new, completely unique digital scrapbooking template! In many ways, the sketchPLATE for August is all about that glitter!...

Here we are in July already and it is time to welcome you again to sketchPLATE Saturday! The sketchPLATE for July is based on the idea of a five-up rows of shaped / partial horizontal colour blocking composed of slightly irregular paper pieces with a vertical strip of four photos for visual contrast, drawing the layers of colour blocks together into a cohesive layout (yes that was a...

After a bit of a break due to imbalance of power issues (aka my batteries are not charging properly) ... welcome back to this month's sketchPLATE Saturday! The sketchPLATE for June is a little more visually complex than the previous one in that the layering is based on four blocks in a grid on the page. When I was pencilling out the draft a couple of months ago I was playing around with the idea of adding...

Happy Saturday morning everyone and welcome back to another instalment of sketchPLATE Saturday! For today's sketchPLATE I decided to create a birthday themed page in honour of my Logan's birthday. Logan is my miracle child having been born 15 weeks prematurely, so his birthdays are a very big deal for me every year ... every day actually ... but especially on his birthday. Here's what I came up with to celebrate...

Welcome back to another instalment of the all new sketchPLATE Saturdays! Today's sketchPLATE is a sweet little number to showcase a photo with a backing of five skinny paper strips. The single photo is framed with an embellished cluster to draw the eye to the right of the page from the negative space along the left hand side providing the counterpoint of focus to the photograph's subjects...
